As the durian season winds down, it’s time to shift focus to other income generating activities that will give a more sustainable yield. Kelulut honey is something I’ve been setting my eyes on for some time but quite prohibitive due to the cost of the hives. Regardless, it’s something that has to be done sooner or later.
There are 10 of these already setup strategically under carambola trees in the cool shade. I was told 10 is a good number to begin with for a start as a newbie. Let’s see how it goes.
The only drawback in this design is that I made a mistake for not making a curve concrete bowl to hold water at the base of this central column stand. I will have that added later. The water held up in this “bowl” will function as a moat to prevent insects from getting into the stands and subsequently the logs. Used black engine oil and even grease apparently do not work as desired to prevent insect from crossing over. The only sure fire way is to use water.
